EuroWire, PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY: The 6th Sustainable Development Forum is scheduled to be held in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky from Feb. 17 to Feb. 21, bringing together government officials, business representatives and industry specialists for a multi day program focused on regional development in Kamchatka Krai and the wider Russian Far East.

Organizers describe the forum as an interregional platform covering multiple sectors, with the Government of Kamchatka Krai leading preparations and support involving the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic, the office of the presidential envoy in the Far Eastern Federal District, and the Roscongress Foundation. The forum is also positioned as a network event linked to the International Tourism Forum “Let’s Travel!”

Events are set to take place primarily at the Kamchatka Exhibition and Tourist Center in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, at Severo-Vostochnoye Sh., 27. The forum’s published theme highlights the “hospitality economy” as a driver of spatial development and a regional priority, linking investment and planning discussions with tourism and visitor infrastructure in Kamchatka Krai.

Organizers say the business program includes more than 40 events organized across three main tracks: economy and investment, architecture and integrated territorial development, and tourism and hospitality. The agenda is built around panel sessions, roundtables and practical discussions intended to share regional experience and review tools used in municipal and regional development initiatives.

Three-track agenda across investment, planning and tourism

Within the economy and investment track, sessions are set to focus on improving the investment climate in Russia’s regions, including state support for investment activity and the work of development institutions. Topics listed for discussion include approaches to attracting private investment into local economies and municipal social infrastructure, along with practical issues linked to project financing and implementation at the regional level.

The architecture and integrated territorial development track is set to include panels and roundtables on establishing competence centers, preparing projects for integrated territorial development, and implementing master plans for cities in the Far East. Organizers have also listed urban greening and landscaping as a dedicated focus within planning discussions tied to development projects in the built environment.

Tourism and hospitality sessions focus on infrastructure and formats

The tourism and hospitality track includes more than 20 business events, according to organizers, covering issues ranging from cruise and off road tourism to event tourism and popular science tourism. The program also highlights tourism infrastructure priorities, including transport links, hotel capacity and the development of hiking trails, alongside sessions devoted to marketing and promotion of destinations and tourism businesses.

Organizers said last year’s edition brought together more than 1,000 participants from 21 regions of Russia, alongside representatives of international business. Participation for the 2026 forum is listed as free for registered guests, and organizers have said events will be streamed on the forum’s website as the program runs from Feb. 17 to Feb. 21 in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
